Passion for travel runs in the family. Raised by an airline sales employee and a history teacher, spent most of his vacation time traveling in his young years, learning cultural nuances and furthering his global perspective. Fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and currently studying French. Although he initially focused on architecture, Newton’s path kept him close to travel. SMI, a sales & marketing agency founded back in 1982 by his father, became his creative hub for more than 30 years. Among his strongest assets is his ability to carefully organize, plan and execute creative sales & marketing plans and activities, as evidenced by his longstanding experience with major global, travel-related brands.
Newton Vieira - CEO
Luxury travel industry career brought Igor to SMI as sales executive for Design Hotels. His performance moved him up fast in the organization and led him to manage company's Creative Lab responsible for all marketing, public relations and communication team. Also Account Director for San Francisco Travel for South America, mainly covering Brazil, Argentina and Colombia. Degree in Advertising and Creation. Started working as art director for advertising agencies then moved to Dublin, where studied Digital Marketing and worked with Fashion Retail. Back in Brazil ventured into tourism industry. Meanwhile finished Digital Communication master and is specializing in influence marketing.
Igor Romeu - CMO
Born and raised in a small town in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, she has always nurtured a passion for travel and gastronomy, which led her to pursue a degree in Tourism. She began her career as an intern at the tour operator TAM Viagens, where she specialized in customer service and progressed to become the manager of two brand franchises. In 2021, after the chaotic period of the pandemic, she was invited to manage the operations department at SMI, with the aim of improving the quality of customer service, bringing along her expertise in Management and Leadership acquired at FGV.
Laysa Andrade - CCO
Technology always charmed Luciano leading him to believe technology for the sake of technology is meaningless. This triggered him to start thinking in results, business rules and general management. Luciano is graduated on IT management and keen on methodologies and references to be applied in very specific scenario. Still in love with programming, infrastructure, security and Unix based OS. His late developments took him to study NodeJS, Docker and Agile and opening his hearth to Data Science where he intends to acquire his Post Graduation degree. Other interests include philosophy, psychology, math and languages.
Luciano Peluzi - CTO
Coming from a humble family, he credits this for the pivotal social values etched in him. The influence of his family in fostering principles such as education and self-worth has created manifold skills helping him to optimize tasks daily. Studied Business Administration at Brasilia University is also trained in Coaching Skills and Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) certified by ESCON Brazil plus author of two books and a speaker in his free time. His determination in learning and finding solutions is one of the main characteristics. His goal is to manage his team with organization and in a dynamic way. He believes that to be key to create a trustworthy environment for his personal and the company’s clients.
Marcio Farias - CAO
Born and raised in a family of Spanish origin, the passion for new cultures and travel led Nathalia to a degree in Tourism and a post-graduation in Business Management to find her identity in the commercial area of the Luxury Tourism Market. Her performance in attracting new accounts and boosting visual communication with Design Hotels resulted in becoming Manager of the Commercial Area. Bringing analysis and identity strategies have attracted partnerships that highlight our brands among the most important clients in this market.
